Day 6 - Where did you send my posts blogger?

I did write posts, but alas some of them seem to have disappeared.  I think there will be lots of upset people all over the world. Friday the 13th  was not a good day for Blogger.

I had told you all about the lovely prawn pie I made for our dinner using lots of fresh herbs from the garden to infuse the home made white sauce on Thursday.  I had shared with you lots of lovely photographs of the herbs I grow in may garden and how I was planning to use them and I had shared with you my thoughts and feelings on this challenge up until that point in time.  I have been asleep since then and cannot recall the ins and outs, but the post may return hopefully, if  you have not had a look at it already.

Yesterday I had hoped to post all about the lovely home made pizza, but as you all know blogger was having a bit of a hissy fit so I'll just have to tell you all about it now. We like pizza in our family, but to be honest the takeaways that we sometimes indulged in became too expensive quite a few years ago, so I began to make them at home and obviously they were preferable so they became a firm favourite.

In more recent times what we have taken to doing is using ready cooked bread (mostly with home made bread although not always), rather than making actual dough as we prefer the less doughy bread and it is much quicker and easier just to cut some bread from a loaf rather than wait for the dough to rise and then spend ages trying to get it to go the way you want it to. It's even faster than the fastest of fast foods, hehe.

So having cut the made loaf up into slices it had a tomato sauce base spread over the top of each slice, which I made from 1 tin of tomatoes, 1 tin of tomato puree, some BBQ sauce from the cupboard and a little agarve nectar just to sweeten it a little.  The remainder of the cheese was then spread onto the bread and topped with the last of the chorizio.  It was all stuck under the grill and served with the last of the cucumber, tomatoes and pepper.  It was very tasty, but having used the last of the salad and the meat and the cereal we are down to just a few items in the cupboard and I have to say that I am looking forward to the Abel and Cole man delivering our boxes once more on Monday. There are lots of things being used up now at this end of the week so it's become a little scary. I am just so glad this is just an experiment and not a necessity.

This morning as there was no cereal left and very little milk we had the last of the ready cut bread, throwing out the one slice nearest the top which had become a 'little' mouldy.
It was nothing like this i promise, just a speck and we checked the rest which was all fine just before you go ringing the NSPCC on me.

It couldn't walk away by itself so it wouldn't hurt anyone and I  I wasn't going to waste it. I opened a packet of the sausages and allocated two each which will allow us to make a dinner out of the remainder for tomorrows dinner.  I added two tins of beans and an egg each to the slice of bread and the two sausages so it was quite a nice breakfast and we wouldn't

This evenings dinner, will be a spaghetti bolognase( but with the pasta I bought which was not spaghetti) using the soya mince that I bought as part of the budget. I had intended to make a Shepard's pie, but the fish pie earlier in the week used quite a lot of the potatoes and I want to make sure we have enough for tomorrows dinner because otherwise I might have to spend some more money on food which I would be very reluctant to do, especially as I have just been bankrupted by two pairs of school shoes, two ink cartridges and have two school trips to pay for which have come to a grand total of £160!!!!!!!!!!!! There is also the insurance for the car which looks to be in the region of £500, although we still haven't got a final figure and will spend some more time hunting for the best deal.

Join me tomorrow for the final day of my challenge.xxx

Ok, that moldy bread was hysterical!

Must admit, I was in the same boat as you at the end - running out of crucial foods by Saturday! And I empathize withg your car insurance pain - that amount sounds just astronomical.

Thanks for setting up this challenge - I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now, back to really good food, and fresh fruit!
