I decided this morning however that this is not necessarily beneficial to the little trolls learning and that if I could keep my blood pressure at a suitable level for long enough, I might actually be able to get the kids cooking and it MAY even be fun and keep them from fighting for a while. So off we went this morning to buy a few of the ingredients I didn't already have and when we came home we made Fudge.
Now I even went to the trouble of taking photographs of the event, but on going to load them onto the computer, I have realised the memory card was not in the camera in the first place, but this is due to having to concentrate on my BP you realise, lol. Anyway I have just taken a photo of the finished product, still setting in its tin instead.
| In the background is my second attempt at soap, nothing goes according to plan and this has come out exceedingly wonky, I'll have to get people drunk before I can give it to them as gifts! |
Now I found a recipe on the Internet, but again as I was so busy with my concentration elsewhere I messed up the recipe, it does however seem to have worked a treat regardless so will share with you my messed up vanilla Fudge.
Vanilla Fudge Troll Fashion
This produces a soft set fudge ideal for mixing into ice cream or other desserts rather than an eating fudge.
- 500g golden caster Sugar
- 398g tin of Condensed Milk
- 4 tablespoons milk
- Pinch of Salt
- 100g Salted butter
- 1 Vanilla pod split
Line a 20cm square cake tin with silver foil extending the foil over the edges. Grease and set aside.
Put all the ingredients into a large saucepan over a low heat and stir gently until the sugar has dissolved.
Stop stirring, turn up the heat and bring to the boil, for those of you with a sugar thermometer you want soft ball ( I just waited until it bubbled evenly across the whole pan).
Once boiling turn down the heat and cook for 10 minutes stirring to prevent burning.
Remove from the heat and take out the vanilla pod.
Beat the living daylights out of it for 10 minutes until it thickens and just starts to loose it's gloss.
Pour into your lined cake tin and leave to set.
Lick all utensils clean while the kids aren't looking :)
Once it is fully cold turn out onto a chopping board and cut into squares. I'm not going to bother with storage instructions, because it won't last that long!
Just in case you are wondering, yes it was quite fun and yes it did stop some arguments so I am happy with a productive morning and shall spend this afternoon recovering and cleaning up the resulting mess of course. Happy holidays ( I think, lol)

Actually, your version looks quite yummy (and easy!). Too bad about the memory card, because I bet pics of the little trolls making a mess in the kitchen must have been fun. :)
Hey! Soap! Well done! Not too wonky! :-).
Your fudge looks delicious. I made some the other day. My first batch about a month ago came out perfect, this second batch never set so I put it back in the pan, heated it and burned it, then managed to stick my finger in it and I have still got the blister. I shall try again though because you can't keep a good fudge maker down. (I think the key is the beating at the end!).
